At PRAkruti, child voice and co-planning take center-stage as our kids help design parts of their learning journey. Well, this process began way earlier than you may think. It started with coming up with a name for their 'school'.
After coming up and vetoing many iterations, they came up with 'PRAkruti' - explaining that it is where Prabha, Rama, Abhimanyu and Alapini learn new things by doing fun 'activities' ( कृती ) ! Hence PRAkruti! They further put a nice bow to it by adding 'sundar shikshan / सुंदर शिक्षण' at the end - signifying their notion of what makes learning beautiful!
This incident in itself is beautiful in its simplicity and gives a glimpse into how the immediate learning environment reflects in the child's thoughts, words and actions. But if you dig deeper, the name reveals more connections to a child's journey of learning and exploring...
In Ayurveda, Prakruti refers to an individual's innate nature or constitution — the
unique balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It represents the
person's natural tendencies, inclinations, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Similarly,
every child has their own ‘learning prakruti’— a unique way of understanding,
expressing, exploring, and growing. Here we respect their pace and rhythm of
learning while offering diverse learning modalities — oral, visual, physical,
reflective!
What began as a playful naming exercise soon became a mirror of our vision — that children aren’t just participants in their learning journey, but its co-creators. PRAkruti continues to evolve with every new learner who joins us, each bringing their own spark, their own prakruti, and together shaping what सुंदर शिक्षण truly means — learning that is joyful, authentic, and alive.
